Happy New Year 2010 from San Francisco, CA. BEST WISHES to all.
To all my buds from back east:
Its been 20 months since Vic & I packed up from back and living out here in the bay area and the first thing that I must tell all of you is that the state of California is a conservative state. I know it appears to the rest of the world that this state is very liberal in its views and politics, but having spent time traveling for the federal government all over this state, about the only thing liberal that exists here is Hollywood and the city of San Francisco.
California is a beautiful state. Everywhere you go (even in the shitty areas the residents consider to be ghetto) are pretty compared to the slums back east I grew up around. This entire area of the country is very different. Not as congested as I thought, unless you hit Los Angeles which I see is the result of powerful corporations. L.A. needs a mass transit system comparable to the MTA of New York City.
San Francisco is a beautiful city. The landscapes, the architechture both natural and man-made is unlike anywhere I've ever seen. Three sides of the city are surrounded by the bay and the Pacific ocean. The politics are quite liberal and even quirky along with the laws of California. Vic & I are always humored by the news whenever the legislature tries to pass a new law either in the city, state, or on the peninsula where we live 10 minutes south outside of the city.
S.F. has huge population of gay folk from all walks of life. Many come here to escape the horrors of where they are from, some come here to start all over, and many come to visit. The city is a safe haven, but its also what you make of it. In the time I've been out here, I've gotten to see just how much S.F. can become a bubble and the lifestyle can quickly consume those that live within its boundaries.
I've met many that think that the carefree, liberal, and extreme tolerance of all walks of life within San Francisco become somehow disillusioned into thinking that everywhere else in the U.S. is the way this city is and if not it should be, which is not the case. I'm not saying that all of its residents hold true to these beliefs, but I've encountered many that have this logic of thinking and have been stunned by people like me when I don't share their views and strongly disagreed with them.
It never ceases to amaze me the cowardly behavior from those that won't look you in the face after you've told them the cold hard facts and you figured out their modus operandi. The games people play and the ones that just never seem to learn. I got a big mouth. I've said some things that others didn't like. After all is said and done, I don't regret any of it because I told the truth, can look in the mirror and be ok with it all.
Like I said, it is not for everybody. As soon as you go elsewhere in the Bay Area, you realize that what's in S.F. stays there and does not go beyond the city. I'm still adjusting to everything here and Vic & I can only take S.F. in so many doses. Despite all that, I love this town and the area. 26 years later, its home.
Come visit. S.F. is an amazing place.

" From its powerful premiere to its haunting finale, Oscar-winner Alan Ball's SIX FEET UNDER remains a poignantly dramatic, unpredictably humorous masterpiece. One of the most best acted and most beautifully produced series on television. " -Newsday
I have never seen a series so brilliantly written where WE ALL know someone that we either relate to, are, or know that is one of these characters. I think everyone should see this series.
The ending was amazing. Vic hated it. I loved it.

I had an absolutely wonderful XMAS.
Other than one gift from my good friend Dom & his partner Joe, I have everything that I've ever wanted.
I have the greatest partner in the world, and I love you.
I'm surrounded by people that I know love me deeply, also awesome real friends I know would take the shirt off their backs for me in time of need.
You know who you are.
I THANK YOU all for sticking by me.
For those of you that are considering purchasing a computer with a blu-ray drive installed, i thought I'd post this itsy bitsy info: Vic & I spent the day watching several movies in blu format ending with PUBLIC ENEMIES. But I did tell Vic that the film DISTRICT 9 had an option screen before the main menu came up displaying two images consisting of HUMAN and the other ALIEN which my guess being is that there's two versions of the film on the disc. But unfortunately, every time I selected the ALIEN option, the blu-ray player locked up. Annoys me to no end. But what do you expect with new technology? I shouldn't be even surprised.
Anyway, ever since Vic purchased his new Vaio made by Sony, he's been using a lot but never tested the blu-ray drive to see if it actually can read commercial blu-ray movies. As it turned it out, it didn't. I checked online, and come to find out, SONY Corporation has not licensed the codecs to every software manufacturer. I was pissed. You would think that a manufacturer that designed, built both hardware AND software would make sure that it is supported and works on every platform available right?
Vic doesn't really care as he doesn't and never has liked to watch movies on the computer and NERO disc burning works. But I figure I'd let all of you know.

This bad-ass woman still sounds as good as the day she recorded this track on her 1974 album titled "Who Is This Bitch Anyway".

The first time I saw Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs was when a few clips were shown on TV one night during a Christmas holiday in 1988. Although I didn't see the film until years later when Disney studios released the Platinum DVD in 2001, I was amazed of what and how this full-length feature film was brought to the screen in 1937.
It's a timeless piece of art from Walt Disney that belongs next to Leonardo DaVinci's Mona Lisa.
I watched it again today and wanted to learn more about the people that worked on the film and not surprising that Disney never properly credited the actors for their work. The angelic voice of Snow White was performed by Adriana Caselotti.
She will forever be immortalized in this famous role. Thank you Walt Disney & Adriana Caselotti for bringing this classic children's story to life.

Basically, men cheat* because:
- Their penis told them to.
- The penis is always right.
- Unless it's not. Unless it's totally, blindingly wrong. But that's really not possible. Just ask it. Wait a sec, it's busy with that Vegas waitress. OK, go ahead. See?
- The man's marriage is sexless and loveless and boring, and he has needs that must -- nay MUST -- be met. Just ask the penis.
- The wife has low/no libido, whereas the man has enough for nine teenagers and a box of rabbits.
- No, really. The male libido, generally speaking, far outpaces the female libido and is never really satisfied for more than a day or two, tops. This is why so many men choose to be gay. Gay sex is like, off the hook! It's true! I read that somewhere. Lesbians, on the other hand, often suffer a terrible fate known as "lesbian bed death." You can Google it.
- #6 is a totally unfair cliché that doesn't always hold true, and, by the way, all men are pigs. I mean, duh.
- The kids steal all the love/attention/energy from wife, leaving man with nothing but XTube, golf and vodka.
- One word: Ego. Three more: ego, ego, ego. Nothing like nailing a beautiful female acolyte to boost self-image, over and over again, as she coos your name adoringly and feigns surprise that you just bought her a Mercedes.
- Or is it the other way around, and many women are shockingly predatory, often hunting for rich, powerful men who will buy them stuff and give them a shred of self worth by association, because the truth is, they have no identity of their own, and all they have is sex, which they wield like an ax made of lip gloss and open hip flexors and Cosa Bella thongs?

Mark Morford is fucking brilliant! He's got balls the size of a 747 and is in the same league as Bill Maher. Thank you for telling the fucking raw unapologetic truth.

George H. W. Bush was "deeply offended" by Republican congressman Joe Wilson's shout of "You lie!" to President Barack Obama during Obama's address to Congress in September, and the former one-term president is calling on US politicians to rise to "a certain decorum and civility."
During an interview with Parade magazine, Bush expressed disappointment with what he sees as a degrading American political debate.
"There has to be a certain decorum and civility," Bush said, adding that Rep. Wilson's shout of "You lie!" during the president's address on health care to a joint session of Congress "smashed" the decorum of Congress. "I thought, 'How have we gotten here?'"
Duh? How do you think we got here? We got here by a slew of arrogant loud mouthed republicans who have no civility nor manners. Republicans like your son who called a journalist a "major asshole". Republicans like Dick Cheney who told Senator Leahy to "go fuck yourself" while on the senate floor. Republicans like Michele Bachman who continues to push the "birther" issue even though Obama has proven he was born in Hawaii. Republicans like Sarah Palin who fomented the hate so much at her rallys that she had people screaming "kill him". Republicans like Glenn Beck who openly calls Obama a racist. Republicans like that traitorous CUNT Michelle Malkin who spew hate even against minorities even against her own Asian race. Republicans like right wing zealot Ann Coulter that spew lie after lie without a shred of evidence to back up any of their claims. Republicans like Rush Limbaugh who openly admit they want Obama to fail. Republicans like those who wear the "Pray for Obama" t-shirt, which espouses that he be assassinated. Republicans like the man who murdered a doctor that performs legal abortions.
I hope you will remember Lee Atwater when you wonder how we got here. You certainly didn't tell him to put away the Willi Horton ad. You certainly didn't fire Mr. Atwater and Mr. Karl Rove. "We got here" because you sired the 43 president. A buffoon who was just dangling from the strings of religious right wing extremists and Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfolwicz, Krystol and the boys.

Germany in the 1970s: Murderous bomb attacks, the threat of terrorism and the fear of the enemy inside are rocking the very foundations of the yet fragile German democracy. The radicalised children of the Nazi generation lead by Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin are fighting a violent war against what they perceive as the new face of fascism: American imperialism supported by the German establishment, many of whom have a Nazi past. Their aim is to create a more human society but by employing inhuman means they not only spread terror and bloodshed, they also lose their own humanity. The man who understands them is also their hunter: the head of the German police force Horst Herold. And while he succeeds in his relentless pursuit of the young terrorists, he knows he’s only dealing with the tip of the iceberg.
Before I graduated New England Institute of Technology, I took sociology as an elective and I studied The Baader Meinhof Gang of Germany trying to understand why this group labeled a terrorist organization had taken roots in the late 1960s throughout much of the 1970s. I give the Germans a lot of credit, they are intense and unapologetic to their filmaking and interpretation of this pivotal time in history.

Pablo (El Bola) is a 12-year old boy raised in a violent and unforgiving environment. Embarrassed by his family life, he retreats from his classmates, engaging them only through a dangerous game. The arrival of a new boy at school, from whom he learns a new definition of friendship, leads to the discovery of a family where communication and love prevail over domination and violence. The film poignantly parallels the lives of a caring father unable to connect with his willful son, and that of distant Pablo (El Bola) and his abusive father who is incapable of giving him the love he needs, replacing it with something far more sinister. One imprints his son in an improbably gentle manner with a tattoo stylus, the other brutally with his fists. Told through both the children's and adults' points of view, Achero Manas's El Bola is a stirring narrative that lodges in the memory.
Watching this film was not easy as I came from a similar childhood background, but I encourage everyone to see this film.

I'm not the greatest writer nor do I claim to be, but I'd like to take an opportunity to dedicate this post to my friend Mike O. that right now is battling (and winning) this monster that we all know as cancer.
My mother herself had cancer but passed away due to complications of diabetes.
I was introduced to Mike (and his partner John) through a mutual friend named Don on Facebook because of our love of the automobile. I finally met Mike in person at Folsom Street fair this year and a month later I learned he took ill. But he's doing better and getting stronger everyday!
To Mike O.: I'm still getting to know you bud, but you have earned my respect, admiration, and a friend for life in fighting this evil demon called cancer with guns blazing. BIG STRONG HUGS!

Facebook is an excellent publisher's platform even though it is considered a social network. It still amazes me that this network has become the central hub for me even more so than my blog. Anyhow, I posted something on the status update reflecting this week.
it's been an interesting week: going a few times into S.F. for work-related issues, some exploring of the city, then talking to friends and reaching mutual understanding, then doing some hardcore research, reconnecting with the few family members I have, and finally being happy with who I am.
I was surprised when several users including one in particular decided to respond to me privately:
Facebook User: Hi Joe your status is interesting - its hard work being happy with you are i find - how did you get there ? Hugs my friendSent via Facebook Mobile
ME: being happy with who you are is being able to look at yourself in the mirror HONESTLY, accepting that the mistakes you made in the past you learned from to make things right in the present and being able to move forward knowing that each day is a new day with new opportunities being presented to you.As long as you can look in the mirror, answer to yourself and God (whatever higher being you believe in), and be OK, you're to be OK. ;)
Facebook User: Thank you Joe for reminding me -i have been going through a really hard time lately - yes i believe in God and i do mirror work on a regular basis - i do however wrestle with myself and my personal demons like every other guy i suppose - thanks for your words - hugs
It is a wonderful feeling to be self-aware of who you are and what you stand for and believe in. Don't let anyone ever try to take that away from you.

FUCK YOU ASSHOLE. F-U-C-K Y-O-U.
I know I'm a decent person. Other than a few speeding tickets, I've never been in trouble with the law in my 37 years of my life and I will defend myself and my dignity until the day I die. Why don't we go through this again as it's obvious that you're so stupid to ever get your head out of someone else's ass long enough to understand what happened shall we?
I was good to you. I was always honest with you. And all I ever wanted was the truth. I never asked you for anything else.
The scariest thing in the world is opening up to someone that you thought you knew very well and you trusted completely, repeatedly swore that he never lied to you, yet what he told you is vague and evasive, and upon meeting them in person, you realize you're staring into the empty eyes of a stranger, he is not who he says he is, you find out that you were not the only one being made a complete fool out of, he is defensive of his actions making excuses and blaming everyone else, he made out like a bandit, he keeps company with people that have fucked him over in the past and would do it again, while throwing me under a bus, and when all is said and done, he won't look you in the face knowing full well he is at fault for the fallout because he is too much of a fucking pussy coward to ever admit he did anything wrong.
This is a sociopath and a wolf in sheep's clothing. Like it or not, this is what happened between you & I (and everyone else before me for that matter), and what I did is call you out on all of it. What you hate is the truth. And this is why you hate me.
But the best definition to describe you is "cold, calculating charm and bullshit filled with evasive sarcasm as a defense all wrapped around an electric guitar" that is an opportunistic son of a bitch that like any whore will use anyone to satisfy your greed. In your eyes, people are just tools for you use. You don't care about anyone except yourself.
I wonder when you get up every morning how can you look at yourself in the mirror.
I held on for way too long because I wanted answers to what kind of person I was dealing with not realizing the answers were already in front of me staring at me in the face but I ignored what my gut was telling me. I should have walked away immediately when I suspected that you were telling me what you thought I wanted to hear. I realized down the road later on you were talking out of your ass and nothing you ever said meant much. If I had a dollar for the numerous times you swore to me even in person that "you never lied to me", all my debts would have been paid.
I'm no victim so take your crock of bullshit and shove it. I don't care about you at all anymore. The one thing that you were immensely successful at is "hurting the fuck outta me" as you put it which made you completely repulsive.
I've wrestled so many times with this shit from being so angry at you to trying to remember the "good".
I never take kindly to threats. So if you're going to intimidate me with baseless, empty threats and try to make things much harder for me out here especially since I'm still new to the bay area, make sure you get your facts straight and go right ahead and try. That way, I can go ahead and expose you and the shit you pulled to me and everyone else before, during, after you screwed me over and are doing to some other innocent unsuspecting soul. Unlike me, you have a lot to lose and you're not about to jeopardize everything you worked so hard for, and I am not afraid of you.
You're so stupid you don't realize the whole world is laughing at you. And you're a pathetic coward that every time you get caught, you run away rather than facing the people you hurt. Be careful of the next person you cross as your luck will eventually run out.
Deny it all you want, but I know that you still follow every single word I say. Why you do it is a question I've given up trying to understand. Everyone that knows and read everything between us has said to that "you're crazy, plain and simple", while others have said that this "was intense unlike anything they've ever seen". Maybe they're right. Three years of your shit kept me up at night, drove me nuts, and made me question myself and the people in my life. You're a selfish asshole that will never understand the damage you've done.
Even though I finally forgave you, I hope you burn in hell. I can't stand the sight of you. People like you deserve nothing, are not wanted, and die alone.

Americans For Truth is a rare single-issue national group on the other side of this critical “culture war” issue. Meanwhile, there are over a dozen national American “gay” groups with annual budgets ranging from just under $1 million to over $30 million working to advance this agenda — which threatens to criminalize Christian opposition to behavior that most Americans believe is wrong.
Recently, a fellow blogger named Joe Jervis of blog "Joe.My.God" came under accusation by AFTAH's douche bag LaBarbera for comments by fellow readers supposedly inciting violence against "good Christians". I'd like everyone of you to take a look at this man. He is the face of the radical christian right wing hate machine in this country. People like this man are determined to overthrow our democratic government and replace it with a theocratical one where women are stripped of their hard fought rights and they are forced back into subservience to men, and all minorities that do not fit this moron's ideal view of "God's perfect society" are persecuted and eliminated.

5 Nov 2009 // Washington, D.C. – Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) asked Health and Human Service (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to investigate why the Center for Disease Control (CDC) approved the distribution of the H1NI vaccine to Wall Street firms at a time when the vaccine is unavailable to most Americans.
Recent news reports indicate 13 companies, including Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase and Time Warner, have been cleared to receive the vaccine.
The CDC is distributing the much sought-after vaccine to Wall Street firms despite reports of vast shortages. In fact, just yesterday CDC Director Thomas Frieden informed Congress that only 32.3 million doses are available, far less than the 159 million needed to cover those at the highest risk. Given the scarce supply, the CDC has recommended the vaccine be directed only to those at highest risk: pregnant women, infants and children and those up to 24 years, those who care for infants, health and emergency services personnel, and adults with compromised immune systems or other chronic health problems.
Melanie Sloan, executive director of CREW said today, “Although CREW has been unable to uncover the demographic makeup of Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and JP Morgan Chase, it seems safe to assume the vast majority of their employees are not pregnant women, infants and children, young adults up to 24 years old, and healthcare workers.”
State officials are concerned about the shortages. The head of Alabama’s Department of Public Health testified that 62% of the vaccines ordered by the state will not be available until after December 1, 2009 and the director of Minnesota’s St. Paul Ramsey County Department of Public Health said he is expecting only 7,800 doses for more than 20,000 children. Los Angeles County’s three public hospitals ordered 110,000 vaccines, but have received only about 18,000 doses, and UCLA’s two hospitals received 1,000 doses for 10,000 staff and 35,000 patients.
This situation is echoed around the country, leaving most of those seeking the vaccine unable to receive it with no remedy in sight. Frieden admitted, “It is quite likely the current wave of influenza will peak, crest and begin to decline before there are ample supplies of the vaccine.”
Sloan said, “In what world do Wall Street employees deserve to be vaccinated ahead of high-risk children, pregnant women and health care workers? Unfortunately, for the thousands being turned away in clinics across America, the CDC has decided to prioritize the millionaires over the masses. The public has a right to know how and why this has happened and when it will stop.” Sloan continued, “First, the bailout, then the bonuses, now the vaccine. When will Washington start putting the needs of Main Street above those of Wall Street?”
I'd like to know WHY the douche bag robbers in WALL STREET are getting the H1N1 Flu Vaccine ahead of the rest of the country??

Carrie Prejean demanded more than a million dollars during her settlement negotiations with Miss California USA Pageant officials -- that is, until the lawyer for the Pageant showed Carrie an XXX home video of her handiwork.
The video the lawyer showed Carrie is extremely graphic and has never been released publicly. We know that, because TMZ obtained the video months ago but decided not to post it because it was so racy. Let's just say, Carrie has a promising solo career.
We're told it took about 15 seconds for Carrie to jettison her demand and essentially walk away with nothing. As we first reported, the Pageant is paying around $100,000 to her lawyers and publicist -- a fraction of her bills. She pockets nothing in the settlement.
Now I'm not a supporter of Ron Paul, but watching this video the narrator fails to point out that it is NOT governments that are responsible for IRAN's demise, rather it is OIL COMPANIES/CORPORATIONS that in using the U.S., British, French, Russia, China, and every superpower in the world that is responsible.

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, praised President Barack Obama today for signing the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act into law. The new law gives the Justice Department the power to investigate and prosecute bias-motivated violence where the perpetrator has selected the victim because of the person's actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. The legislation was added as a provision to the FY 2010 National Defense Authorization Act earlier this Summer. For a comprehensive retrospective and historical overview of hate crimes advocacy visit: www.hrc.org/loveconquershate.
“This law honors our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender brothers and sisters whose lives were cut short because of hate,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “Today’s signing of the first major piece of civil rights legislation to protect LGBT Americans represents a historic milestone in the inevitable march towards equality. Although this is a major step in fighting the scourge of hate violence, it is not the end of the road. As a community, we will continue to dedicate ourselves to changing not only laws but also hearts and minds. We know that hate crimes not only harm individuals, but they terrorize entire communities. After more than a decade of advocacy, local police and sheriffs’ departments now have the full resources of the Justice Department available to them.”
“We applaud President Obama for signing this bill into law and thank the leadership and our allies in the House and Senate. We also will always remember the tireless efforts of Senator Edward Kennedy on this issue. Senator Kennedy once said that this legislation sends ‘a message about freedom and equality that will resonate around the world.’ This marks the first time that we as a nation have explicitly protected the LGBT community in the law. And this law sends a loud message that perpetrators of hate violence against anyone will be brought to justice,” said Solmonese.
The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act honors the memory of Matthew Shepard, a Wyoming college student brutally murdered in an act of hate violence in 1998, and James Byrd, an African-American man who was dragged to death in Jasper, Texas, in 1998.
“We are incredibly grateful to Congress and the president for taking this step forward on behalf of hate crime victims and their families, especially given the continuing attacks on people simply for living their lives openly and honestly,” said Judy Shepard, executive director of the Matthew Shepard Foundation. “But each of us can and must do much more to ensure true equality for all Americans.”
“We appreciate everyone who worked so hard on this bill. My son was taken at such an early age and we hope this law will help prevent other families from going through what we experienced,” said Stella Byrd, mother of James Byrd. “Even though we’re different colors and different sexual orientations or gender identities, God made us all and he loves us all.”
The new law also provides the Justice Department with the ability to aid state and local jurisdictions either by lending assistance or, where local authorities are unwilling or unable, by taking the lead in investigations and prosecutions of violent crime resulting in death or serious bodily injury that were motivated by bias. It also makes grants available to state and local communities to combat violent crimes committed by juveniles, train law enforcement officers, or to assist in state and local investigations and prosecutions of bias motivated crimes.
This legislation was first introduced in the 105th Congress. There have been 14 total votes in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate to bring this historic legislation to the president’s desk.
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
Having come from a background where I grew up seeing racism, sexism, religious intolerance, and then working for fellow queers that were self-loathing supporting the people that consistently voted against us and the gay community, escaping a gay bashing, and then dealing with gay folk who really don't understand or care that issue is NOT about special treatment, this is a very sensitive subject and a bittersweet victory for gay rights in the United States of America. No longer will we have to live in fear.
Right now, the laws will only punish people for committing the crimes. Eventually I'd like to see laws enacted to go after the instigators who right now are hiding behind the first amendment.
People like Fred Phelps, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, Pat Robertson, Pat Buchanan, Rush Limbaugh and so many others that spew nothing but hate should be charged with inciting violence and imprisoned for life.
PETITION TO SENATE DEMOCRATS:
"Any Democratic senators -- including Joe Lieberman -- who support a Republican attempt to block a vote on health care reform should be stripped of their leadership titles. Americans deserve a clean up-or-down vote on health care reform that includes a public option."
Over 90,000 signatures and growing...

Gays who are physically assaulted because of their sexual orientation receive new federal hate crime protections under legislation heading for President Barack Obama's signature.
With a Senate vote on Thursday, Congress has approved a measure that expands current law to include crimes based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.
That's one of the most significant expansions of the law since it was enacted after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968.
The bill would provide financial aid to states prosecuting hate crimes and would allow the Justice Department to step in when a state is unwilling or unable to follow through on a purported hate crime.
We did it.

Surveillance video has been released of the savage anti-gay hate crime that happened in Queens early Friday morning. Jack Price, 49, is in a medically-induced coma on a respirator at New York Hospital as a result of a brutal attack by two men who yelled anti-gay slurs at him after he visited a corner deli.
Watch the video, AFTER THE JUMP...
Price sustained a fractured jaw, ribs and a lacerated spleen
Rodriguez 26-year-old Daniel Aleman has been charged with assault and aggravated assault as a hate crime. the second suspect, Daniel Rodiguez, is still at large. Aleman's attorney insists he was fighting in self-defense. Right.
UPDATE: Daniel Rodriguez has been arrested. "On Tuesday, the United States Marshals Service arrested one of the suspects, Daniel Rodriguez, 21, in Norfolk, Va. Mr. Rodriguez, who has family in the area, was located through tips to the New York Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center, the police said. Charges in New York were pending, the police said, but it was unclear Tuesday night precisely when Mr. Rodriguez would be extradited."
As a gay man growing up back on the east coast, I was always reminded of why we always had to live under the shadows and in fear because of the religious bigots raising teaching young people to hate. Watching this video made me physically ill, made me cry, and angered me to the point where I want to hunt these young men down and kill them for what they did to one of our own.
I always swore that if anyone ever threatened me or anyone that I love, I'd fight to the death and if it's me or them I would kill or be killed. But one way or another that attacker will remember that he fucked with the wrong person.
You hate mongering cowards will never break us. Justice will be served.
Let this video forever circulate on the internet to remind our community of why we must continue our fight for equality & justice.

I finally got my MACBOOK and finished setting up, installing, and configuring all the software on this Intel model running Apple's new Snow Leopard 64-bit OS.
I wanted to do a little bit of comparison of this machine against Vic's new Vaio he bought purchased last week running a 64-bit version of Vista Home Premium on it.
I have to give a lot of credit to both of these machines because of the horsepower for processor and power they both have, and the fact that 64-bit (and will eventually go to 128-bit) is long overdue.
The Vaio and Macbook are extremely fast. But there is one drawback I noticed right away: applications like skype (maybe its the way the interface is designed for the Mac versus the Windows version) just run a helluva lot better. The picture was clearer, cleaner, and audio was amazing. I couldn't tell the difference for audio though. Vic's Vaio has an amazing sound chip using the codecs I installed running alongside Firehand Ember while the Mac has iTunes and Quicktime.
Quite a bit of software that I had for previous versions of OS X will not run on it YET but I'm hoping that Apple fixes these issues. I also disabled the guest account for now as a precaution.
Its gonna take me time to get fully used to this different environment versus the Vaio I have, but so far I LIKE the big cat ;)

I have a question that I'd really like an answer to gay people that support the Republican party and people that have openly demonized our community as a whole:
Why do you support people that hate us? Other than the fact that many of you are extremely wealthy and greed is what drives you every single day, but for the rest of you that is working class living from paycheck to paycheck, please help me understand.
I really want to know WHY.

Director Roman Polanski was arrested by Swiss police for possible extradition to the United States for having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl, authorities said Sunday.
Polanski was flying in to receive an honorary award at the Zurich Film Festival when he was apprehended Saturday at the airport, the Swiss Justice Ministry said in a statement. It said U.S. authorities have sought the arrest of the 76-year-old around the world since 2005.
"There was a valid arrest request and we knew when he was coming," ministry spokesman Guido Balmer told The Associated Press. "That's why he was taken into custody."
Balmer said the U.S. would now be given time to make a formal extradition request.
Polanski fled the U.S. in 1978, a year after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with the underage girl.
The director of such classic films as "Chinatown" and "Rosemary's Baby" has asked a U.S. appeals court in California to overturn a judges' refusal to throw out his case. He claims misconduct by the now-deceased judge who had arranged a plea bargain and then reneged on it.
The Swiss statement said Polanski was officially in "provisional detention for extradition," but added that he would not be transferred to U.S. authorities until all proceedings are completed. Polanski can contest his detention and any extradition decision in the Swiss courts, it said.
Polanski has faced a U.S. arrest request since 1978 and has lived for the past three decades in France, where his career has continued to flourish. He received a directing Oscar in absentia for the 2002 movie "The Pianist." He was not extradited from France because his crime reportedly was not covered under the U.S.'s treaties with the country.
In France, Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand said he was "dumbfounded" by Polanski's arrest, adding that he "strongly regrets that a new ordeal is being inflicted on someone who has already experienced so many of them."
Mitterrand's ministry said Sunday in a statement that he is in contact with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, "who is following the case with great attention and shares the minister's hope that the situation can be quickly resolved."
A native of France who was taken to Poland by his parents, Polanski escaped Krakow's Jewish ghetto as a child and lived off the charity of strangers. His mother died at the Auschwitz Nazi death camp.
He worked his way into filmmaking in Poland, gaining an Oscar nomination for best foreign-language film in 1964 for his "Knife in the Water." Offered entry to Hollywood, he directed the classic "Rosemary's Baby" in 1968.
But his life was shattered again in 1969 when his wife, actress Sharon Tate, and four other people were gruesomely murdered by followers of Charles Manson. She was eight months pregnant.
He went on to make another American classic, "Chinatown," released in 1974.
In 1977, he was accused of raping the teenager while photographing her during a modeling session. The girl said Polanski plied her with champagne and part of a Quaalude pill at Jack Nicholson's house while the actor was away. She said that, despite her protests, he performed oral sex, intercourse and sodomy on her.
Polanski was allowed to plead guilty to one of six charges, unlawful sexual intercourse, and was sent to prison for 42 days of evaluation.
Lawyers agreed that would be his full sentence, but the judge tried to renege on the plea bargain. Aware the judge would sentence him to more prison time and require his voluntary deportation, Polanski fled to France.
The victim, Samantha Geimer, who long ago identified herself publicly, has joined in Polanski's bid for dismissal, saying she wants the case to be over. She sued Polanski and reached an undisclosed settlement.
Despite the hard life he came from and lived through, Mr. Polanski deserves to go to prison for what he did in 1978 to a then 13-year old girl.

The news that an experimental AIDS vaccine tested on 16,000 heterosexual volunteers in Thailand had been shown to be safe and modestly effective surprised researchers, who had become used to failure in the decades-long effort to find a vaccine to protect against HIV infection.
The elusive search for a vaccine has its roots in the Bay Area, where one of the two genetically engineered vaccines used in the Thai trial was developed.
The trial relied on a combination of a modified canary-pox vaccine from Sanofi Pasteur and a drug made from an engineered version of a protein found on the AIDS virus, which was made by a Brisbane biotechnology company called VaxGen Inc. The patent for the VaxGen vaccine is now owned by Global Solutions for Infectious Diseases, a nonprofit in South San Francisco.
In 1985 when then President Ronald Reagan finally publicly mentioned the word after famous people like Rock Hudson died, I remember the anger I had towards him and the bigoted ignorance of people.
In 1987 there was a TV show on a then fledgling network called FOX called 21 Jump Street starring Johnny Depp that tried to address the issue of a young high schooler that was living with AIDS and dying from it.
In 1989 I had a friend that I knew briefly that had passed away at 25 of AIDS. Two other friends named Dan and David also passed away before I reached the age of 21.
Reading news like this gives all of us hope that those that are gone are in a better place, their memory is not forgotten and we will find a way to kill this monster that has waged a war against us for decades..
Instead of you two wasting your time and energy going after people that are highly irrelevant in a town that is highly irrelevant, Hollywood and Hollywood celebrities, why don't you focus your and the world's attention to WALL STREET, the financial firms and the very people that nearly brought this country and the world's economies to its knees and pillaged our money to increase their wealth to unimaginable status while destroying the lives of many?

I never pay attention to Fox News as I see them as nothing more than hateful right-wing propaganda but from time to time I kept hearing about a hateful commentator named Michelle Malkin. So when I did finally turned my attention to her, I was VERY shocked to learn that this woman is of FULL-BLOODED Philippine decent from both parents.
Malkin was born in Philadelphia to Philippine citizens, schoolteacher Rafaela and aspiring doctor Apolo , who had arrived in the U.S. earlier that year. At the time, her father Apolo was a physician-in-training with an employer-sponsored visa. She grew up in the small southern New Jersey town of Absecon, where she was raised in the Roman Catholic faith. Malkin has recently described a formative event when she was in kindergarten: one day, the other children called her a racist name, and she went home crying. Her mother comforted her and told her that "everyone has prejudice." She has said that she is "eternally grateful" for that counsel.
For many years, Malkin was a frequent commentator for FOX News Channel and a regular guest host of The O'Reilly Factor. In 2007, she announced that she would not return to The O'Reilly Factor, claiming that FoxNews had mishandled a dispute over derogatory statements made about her by Geraldo Rivera in a Boston Globe interview. Rivera, while objecting to her views on immigration, says, "Michelle Malkin is the most vile, hateful commentator I've ever met in my life. She actually believes that neighbors should start snitching out neighbors, and we should be deporting people." He added, "It's good she's in D.C. and I'm in New York. I'd spit on her if I saw her." Since 2007, she has concentrated on her writing, blogging and public speaking, although she still appears on television on occasion.
The Virginian-Pilot dropped her column, calling her, among other things, "an Asian Ann Coulter." Malkin responded, "I'm not Asian, I'm American, for goodness' sake. I would take the comparison to Ann Coulter as somewhat of a compliment. I have a lot of respect for Ann Coulter".
This is the same comparison as chairman Michael Steele of the Republican Party. Talk about liars, self-loathing bigots, and traitors all in one. Two minorities joining the Klu Klux Klan. And as with most conservatives, when gathering information: they pull it out of their ass.

Thank you Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina. You are a racist and ignorant DOUCHE BAG for disrespecting the President during his speech last night.
Wilson interrupted Obama's speech after a cascade of boos from Republicans triggered an explicit admonition from the president over alleged coverage for undocumented immigrants in the health insurance reform proposals.
"This too is false," Obama said. "The reforms I am proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."
"You lie!" jeered Wilson.
A cavalry of condemnation rode through the chamber. Even Republicans joined in."That's not true," said Obama.
Wilson is a major recipient of contributions from the health care industry. In fact, over his entire congressional career, health professionals represent Wilson’s top industry contributors, donating a total of $244,196 to his campaign, according to the Center for Responsive Politics OpenSecrets.org database. He received another $86,150 from pharmaceutical companies, $73,050 from insurance companies and $68,000 from hospitals and nursing homes.

Nothing worse than a self-loathing queer especially those that hide behind a woman later on ruining thier lives that would undermine another for his own selfish political gain while simultaniously behind closed doors would be the first in line to ride a 9 & 1/2 incher .
South Carolina Lt. Governor Andre Bauer is a closeted anti-gay politician who stands to replace Mark Sanford should Sanford resign or be impeached (a real possibility as Sanford is caught in his own sex scandal.)
So, what is the deal with Bauer? I have confirmed and spoken to four individuals who I have no doubt are telling me the truth. These men have been hit on by Bauer, with one of them telling me it happened at least five times since Bauer's election in 2003. To a varying degree I have met with and believe the sources. And, as you'll recall, I have that 100% record.
This was still not enough for me to report on him. Then another call came in and I met with the source while he was visiting DC recently. "He's gay," the source told me.
"How do you know?" I asked. "Because I've had sex with him on two separate occasions." That too, was not enough for me to report on without confirmation from others. I was led on a path to chatting with acquaintances of the source and two former employees of Bauer who served on his staff between 2004 and 2007. They reported to me that on a total of three occasions Bauer spent hours alone with men in hotel rooms. Each of them explained that the visits were with younger men who were not on the staff of the Lt. Governor nor had any official reason to be with him. The two men each confirmed that they had not known each other and each described similar circumstances under which these interactions occurred. One of them confirmed that he was told by the Lt. Governor's visitor he had a sexual encounter with Bauer.
PATHETIC. It is queers like this one that are the real enemy and deserve NO sympathy from gay society. Let all of them turn purple, be outed and ostracized.

No matter how many people pass on from this life to another, no of us will ever get used to that. I just learned from a friend back east that a mutual friend we knew is gone.
Rene Nieves (a.k.a. Ray) he was born November 8, 1964. He passed away on October 16, 2008 at the age of 43 of lung cancer. He was special. His love of life and his passion for helping other people will forever be a part of all those he touched including me. -Keith
I first began talking to Ray almost 10 years ago through the internet but I was an idiot and shy back then in coming out to meet him in person. It was only 2 years ago (winter 2007) in Boston at the Alley bar that this one unexpected chance encounter with him, Rey Rey & his boyfriend (that were visiting out-of-town), and a couple of other gentlemen (who were also out-of-towners) made it the most enjoyable night I will never forget.
Later on, Ray introduced me to his ex and best friend Keith just before he and his hubby decided to begin their new lives in Spain.
Ray moved back to New York to be closer to his family so I was sorry to see him go just as I was getting to know him. At the time I didn't know how gravely ill he was nor did he ever tell me the full details. I never asked either.
Rest In Peace Ray. You will always be remembered.

I realize that it was busy at lunch hour and I shouldn't expect much from people that are working at or above minimum wage.
I ordered chicken strips and instead (when the manager on duty called out my number ) I received a HUGE order of legs and breasts instead. I knew they fucked up but I also didn't bother to check until I got home. No matter. It's still good chicken. Even though I just wrecked my diet, I'm not gonna waste food.

Caught this video on Michael Moore's website. WATCH IT & SPREAD THE WORD
This video provides the full breadth of what happened at Senator Claire McCaskill's town hall event in Hillsboro, Missouri.
I must make one thing clear, it is not the intention of this video in any way shape or form to blame the actions of the police officers. They were doing their job and this video is intended to highlight the discrepancies between what was covered by the media and what was not. In addition to how biased those in attendance were towards the 4 black females. If they were fair then they would have shown the same displeasure towards the 3 white audience members holding the "Don't tread on me" flags, which were held up the entire town hall event.
I can now breathe a sigh of relief after almost 6 years.
I was on the phone this morning with a debt collector and negotiated to bring down and get rid of the only credit card/debt I was unable to pay off because of lack of finding steady work in the first year of living out here in the Bay Area. Both Victor & now I make good enough money that we don't need the plastic and it's funny: I had the gold from SEARS before I defaulted. It was the only credit card I've ever had and will be the last credit card I own.
I essentially negotiated and brought the debt down to pay it off and wipe it from my record for good. Even when I owned it and was in good outstanding payments with them, I NEVER used it other than one time to replace the transmission on the Dodge Intrepid when it failed.
I will NEVER get another credit card ever again so long as I walk this earth in this life.

I never thought that I'd ever be employed by a section of the federal government at the Department Of Homeland Security. The choice to take my career to the public sector was more of a last resort. 160,000 IT jobs have been lost in the Bay Area alone, plus this looks really good on my resume'. It didn't come soon enough as the hiring process was tedious and lengthy. One thing I've learned is that the government knows EVERYTHING about every American citizen with a social security number. You have a number, you're on the grid, and they know what you've been up to. If you want a job with the feds, you have to prove to them that you are good enough having a clean record, and that you are telling the truth.
4 months on the job traveling from site to site seeing southern California has been amazing and a great learning experience. Imperial Valley was a harsh desert environment 2 hours east of San Diego smack in the middle of nowhere that I became ill but quickly recovered. Aliso Viejo in Orange County of Los Angeles was wealth upon wealth that I've never seen in my life. Otay Mesa in San Diego county was another desert environment in the middle of nowhere.
One thing that struck me immediately is that CA while progressive on many political fronts, is largely a very conservative state and it reflected on all of these sites.
Orange County was the most unique and here's why: while the area is politically very conservative, the residents sure don't dress the part. I saw women with bigger hair, more make-up, bigger tits, and shorter dresses. The men for the most part were trimmed, buffed, or leaner and hit the gym regularly. Evidence of that was clear to me when I was eating my dinner in the hotel's restaurant and I swear I was the fattest guy in the room.
I expected everyone to be rude and stuck up especially in the O.C.. Not at all. Everyone was very nice at each location. Being from the east coast, I saw that these places have a lot in common with the rich areas of old New England and even New York City. Meeting some longtime friends while I was on location also made these experiences enjoyable.
While I love the Bay Area, there are some things that are simply too in your face that should not be tolerated in San Francisco that certainly would not be tolerated anywhere else and honestly? Why should it be? I support freedom and equality for everyone but let's have respect for our fellow citizens.

I realized when I put "why am I always so relentlessly happy" as my status a few days ago .. that even if I'm angry, hungry, hurt or sad .. I'm still kind of a little bit happy.
Then I started keeping a list about why. Here's why.
Feel free to add your own, comment or question.
"HOW TO BE RELENTLESSLY HAPPY"
1. Have few wants.
2. Do not try to be in a romantic relationship with someone who doesn't love and respect you, deeply.
3. Give a lot, often, and without expectation of return or reward.
4. Take the time to connect with children or animals whenever you encounter them.
6. Make eye contact and a mental note of respect toward all living things that you encounter.
7. Don't wait to say something caring. Say it right then.
8. Share what you have and don't overly think about it. In a very real way, nothing you have is really yours.
9. Cook and share what you cook. Good smells around the house .. happy.
10. Have art around you. Have books around you. These things and food cooking will bring people and other people are the closest and most usual experience of God that you will have in this lifetime.
11. Let yourself feel your feelings. But then remember that not all feelings are facts. Question it, is there another way to look at it?
12. Laugh at yourself, lovingly. No one laughs harder when I trip on the sidewalk than I.
13. Be different. If you're being different while being yourself then you're onto something.
14. Read. Some of the happiest people I know are readers.
15. Express yourself. To yourself mostly.
16. Don't try overly hard to make others happy. The most intensely miserable people of all time are those who slave to win approval from others which they will never get anyway because no one can respect anyone who does that. It's a massive waste of time.
17. Let yourself be present at the moment of someone's death. -And birth. At some point, you will have, quite without trying, the chance to see someone die or be borne. Do not shrink away from it, look directly at it, don't judge it as gruesome or ugly. Look right at it, you will walk away different. It is nothing like in the movies or television. The change will be substantial and good. Even peaceful. That is real life.
18. I don't overly identify with my physical support. I don't make the mistake of thinking I am my body. If you've done number 17 you'll realize that people are energy. Energy which is very briefly, very temporarily in a body, but that people are not their bodies. The body has it's place, but it's not your true you, nor your true home. When you stop identifying with your physical support you will have fewer experiences of this world and more experiences beyond this world, which is what you want.
19. I don't overeat.
20. I am eager to love.
21. Eager to forgive.
22. I am eager to laugh.
23. Eager to listen.
24. Avoid people that do not ask you about yourself when you see them, or who do not pause to let you speak when they are talking. Communication is both talking and then listening. People have forgotten this. I've had people tell me about things, events, places and people I knew better than they but who never stopped to ask me about it. I just smile and move on.
25. It is my belief that fruit is a mood stabilizer. It works, it also produces a subtle lift.
26. Eat happy food: Processed food tends toward boredom and depression. Real flavors favor inspiration and action. Your food has a very specific mood effect, just like taking a pill.
27. Live somewhere that puts you in state of wonder year round.
27. Have many enthusiasms. Earnestly feed them.
28. Whether they have died or are just in the next room-- Whenever you miss someone, miss them with a smile and not with tears. It will feel very different. For you, and for them.
29. Talk to the people who you have loved who are now dead. They can hear you, and even respond. If you speak honestly and listen deeply. Even someone alive and far away can hear you if you speak to them and you can hear them. Distance means nothing.
30. Learn to say "I don't know" and have it not diminish your sense of yourself. It's ridiculous that people think they have to know everything all the time.
31. Learn to say "I'm sorry". Nothing you've EVER done "wrong" affects your true value which is beyond the things of this world. You are a divine expression of the most mystical power in the Universe. Who cares if you don't want to do something or don't know how. Even when you are messing up, you're still loveable and worthy of love.
32. You are not better or worse than anyone else. Don't put people on pedestals, unless you'll put everyone on one. Including yourself.
33. Nothing you do is more important than who you are. If you've achieved great things in your job but your loved ones don't know your heart or haven't felt your care, you're messing up. Big time. The accomplishments in the lab, on the computer, the book you wrote, the breakthrough .. the PHD program .. everything you achieve means nothing if you haven't connected deeply with the people you've loved the most. WHY DO THIS? Because if you do .. then you realize that the love feeling that comes from the commitment to the relationship .. is closer to who you really are than even the body you are in.
34. I remember that I am connected to every other living person and every living thing in this world as if cells on one giant body the farthest limits and reaches of I could never see or even hope to see.
If one thing on this list helps one person, I'm glad I shared it.
