Al Franken is now Senator of the state of Minnesota. About fucking time ;)

The Minnesota Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that Democrat Al Franken be certified as the winner of the state's long-running Senate race. The high court rejected a legal challenge from Republican Norm Coleman, whose options for regaining the Senate seat are dwindling.

Justices said Franken is entitled to the election certificate he needs to assume office. With Franken and the usual backing of two independents, Democrats will have a big enough majority to overcome Republican filibusters.

Coleman hasn't ruled out seeking federal court intervention.

Jim Manley, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, said the earliest Franken would be seated is next week because the Senate is out of session for the July 4 holiday.

Franken, a former Saturday Night Live star making the leap from life as a left-wing author and radio talker to the Senate, planned a news conference later Tuesday and didn't immediately comment.

R.I.P. Farrah Fawcett (1947-2009)

The iconic Charlie's Angels Beauty passed away today. Rest in Peace Farrah. You will always be in our hearts.

Farrah Fawcett, 62, golden-haired sex symbol of the late 1970s most remembered for her appearance on bedroom posters and the detective series "Charlie's Angels" and who later found a niche portraying troubled women in made-for-television dramas, died today at a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., of cancer.

Many wonder why I often post so many articles on Facebook and in this blog about the news especially concerning environmental and political issues. I do it because we as a public have the right to know since the major media news outlets are corporate-owned and have NO INTEREST in telling the truth. Thanks to brilliant and valiant people like Josh Wolf and Manila Ryce, they are symbols of why bloggers have taken over the role and are challenging traditional news sources.

I've been following this new HBO mini-series on Blu-Ray called GENERATION KILL which portrays and honest, and savagely brutal view of the war in IRAQ. It's not easy to stomach but makes you wonder what's really going on that the major news outlets won't tell you, who's really behind the lies, why we are there, and last but not least: who's profiting over the death and displacement of native IRAQIS.

I don't have a problem with corporations making money and profiting. Fact is we all expect them to. But I do have a MAJOR problem when profit comes before the lives of people.
